The Commodore Life Forums are now officially closed.

We apologise to those who come on the site because they like and appreciate it, but unfortunately there are more people that come on to cause trouble and try to make our lives harder.

I’ve seen it all. Car club after car club, forum after forum, no explanation, just ‘We are now closed’. Well I’m not going to do that, here’s your explaination.

This club was started in 2005 due to myself falling Victim to another club stealing the membership money, they got caught and closed their doors without a word. It seems as if the only way I could be assured of that not happening again is if I was running my own club. The fees were never ending, hosting, vbulletin, association fee, business name fee, reservation of a business name fee. Personally I think that last fee is a bit of a hoax but that’s NSW for you. Why did I do it? To prove a point? Maybe. But the members came, the popularity came, and with that came the shit fights.

People don’t understand what goes on in the car scene. That old club I mentioned before, they reopened under a slightly different name, the previous owners had nothing to do with it, and now when I look at their photo gallery the previous owners are in every photo. It’s only a matter of time till it happens again. People like myself put a lot of money into the forum, but I’m nobody. I’m not important. I may have spent in excess of $1,000 but I only drive a TK Barina so what could I mean to a commodore club? Someone else signs up with a done up VK or a new VE and people treat them (nobody) as if they run the show. There’s no appreciation, no respect.

I did this as an experiment and signed up to a few particular forums with a new R8 Maloo (apparently). I was getting PMs from about 5 different people, and invites to cruises. We welcomed people even if they didn’t drive a car. A lot of clubs and forums out there are really fake and artificial.

I was getting very busy with work and study a few years ago and I felt like I needed another admin to help because I wouldn’t be around. This person took full advantage of me, took me off admin and promoted his own people, the site wasn’t his. Now this could not be helped, some people are like that, but I found out a MONTH LATER due to a phone call from a friend. Everyone had my number, but nothing, no phone call, no message. People let this takeover happen. After everything I had done, no one even payed me the decency to ask me what had happened.

I later promoted my girlfriend as admin to help me. She re-instated car of the month with prizes, more than what the majority of forums offer. Show us your car and get $50 worth of car care products. Was there any appreciation in that? Even after I detach myself from the site I am getting PMs from members (new and old) asking me questions. Isn’t Christina here? People were ignoring her. A complete sign of ignorance.

We are sick of the treatment that is offered by the car community. Putting it bluntly it is not worth our time, our effort, or our money to be running this.

As I stated before I am sorry to those that actually enjoyed the forum, but Christina and myself both feel very strongly about this, and there was no alternative.
